As digital artists, the Berlin based artist duo is interested in the jellyfish‘s polymorphic nature. Similar to the jellyfish, the computer also has a structure that at first appears simple, but on closer inspection turns out to be amazingly adaptable and scalable.
The video work by Banz & Bowinkel relates the jellyfish‘s ability to metagenesis to the processes of the computer. Its basic operations IF AND OR ELSE are controlled via the keyboard using familiar terms such as „function“, „delete“, „enter“, „control“, „escape“. In an animation, these commands form repeating rows beside various sea simulations.
